An excerpt of Mutant Hanako was published in English by VIZ Media in their underground manga anthology Secret Comics Japan on July 6, 2000.


According to Secret Comics Japan, Makoto Aida first released the 60 page Mutant Hanako at one of his art exhibits, where only 300 copies were printed and available only to those who attended. It was later reprinted by ABC Shuppan in August 1999.

The story revolves around a salaryman (Kazumi Araiwa) who can cook well. He shares his love of cooking to his friends, co-workers, and family.
