Alice no Himegoto is an adult version of Alice in Wonderland for the first three chapters. Alice experiences a Wonderland where she must get off a "doorknob" in order to chase down the White Rabbit who has dropped his special gift for the queen. In her attempts to return this to him she encounters a pair of pigs - a reference to the Tweedle twins - and a Mad Tea Party where she becomes the main ingredient of two different cakes. When she interrupts the White Rabbit's trial, the Queen seeks to punish her for her transgression. The rest of the book is a short story about "first times."

Three students are living fairly normal lives when, one day, they are overcome with intense stomach pain and a star symbol appears like a tatoo on their skin. With the symbol came supernatural powers, as well as enemies coming to kill them.


As more and more people develop similar supernatural powers, the story starts to turn into a Battle Royalesque bloody playground, only with an entire city as the setting and many innocents caught in the crossfire.


Among other themes, the story asks the question, "When is it alright to kill?" and delves deep into the darkness of the human psyche.

Himoto Sora is a transfer student with a sense of justice and dreams of becoming a knight. Upon arriving at Utopia Gakuen, she learns of a virtual reality-like game played by the male students in which they use girls as weapons in battles for status and treat them as commodities. Seeing one of these girls being abused she steps in and though some sort of error unwittingly becomes the first female participant of the game.

When their eyes meet, the music stops, and IVE stops singing. She looks into the crowd and asks the audience to make room for her to pass by. She walks down the middle of the aisle, towards Sakuta, and the next thing he notices, IVE is hugging him tightly saying, "I've wanted to meet you!" WHAT!?

William Twining is one of Stratford School's top students, but despite attending a religious school, he does not believe in God or the supernatural because he is an emphatic realist and a proponent of modern science.
